Gen Li

Gen Li is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth Science at UCSB and leads the Earth Surface and Carbon Dynamics Laboratory. Trained as a geomorphologist and geochemist, he studies the physical and chemical processes that cycle materials and elements in the Earth system. 

Gen Li obtained a PhD degree in Earth Science from the University of Southern California (2017) and a BS degree in Geology from Nanjing University, China (2011). Before joining UCSB, Gen worked at Caltech as a Geology Option Postdoctoral Fellow. His work is recognized with the Luna B. Leopold Early Career Award and the Robert Sharp Lectureship from the American Geophysical Union.
